Adidas is running “Wake Up”, a television commercial documenting the return of D Rose and promoting the D Rose 3 collection and basketball shoe. The commercial takes us from the moment when Chicago Bulls Derrick Rose tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee. The world stopped when D Rose went down. Not only for Bulls fans, but for everyone who’s a fan of a basketball. The Return, online at adidasbasketball.com/thereturn, suggests that every step D Rose takes towards recovery isn’t just bringing him back, it’s bringing us all back. Fans are invited to join #TheReturn and support Rose by leaving messages on Facebook and Twitter and posting photos on Instagram.
Filming was shot in Chicago locales like Lake Street Bridge and the South Side neighborhoods and parks. The film also features the in-game call by TNT’s Kevin Harlan, and includes cameos from sport anchor Dan Roan and Rose’s brother, Reggie.
